I'm glad I purchased.My upper thigh measures 23.5 inchesMy lower thigh (right above my knee cap) is 17.5 inchesI hope this helps someone else.I like these bibs and would give them five stars if the padding were thicker and wider. The thickest part of the pad is 170mm wide. My bike saddle is 190mm. I suspect most riders wearing 3XL bibs are going to be wide here as well. On the positive side, these bibs are true US sizing which means they actually fit big men. I’m 6’4” tall with a 46” waist and the 3XL fit pretty well.For being entry level, I didn't know what to expect when buying cycle gear. I'm a big dude...6' tall and 340 pounds with a 54" waist...I ordered these (5x size) expecting to return them for being too small. But, to my surprise, they fit perfectly as noted! It's such a relief to order things that fit the 1st try! Yes, they're pricey but they fit so well...I immediately forgot about that. Just wanted to share for the other big dudes out there...these things will fit, they look and feel great! No more "plumbers bu*t" to worry about while riding! Get out there and shed that weight in style and comfort...cycle away!!GREAT set of bib shorts... NICE padding, felt comfortable with NO chafing, used assos cream...Aerotech were GREAT, for I had to return do to them being too big... Got 4XL, only needed 2 XL !!!Quick turnaround via 1st class mail that they paid for... Happy Customer ... MADE IN THE U.S.A ...Products run big and are far better than them ''small'' Chinese !!! Can't go wrong when you have and can talk on the phone to a fellow American :)Aero Tech simply makes the best biking apparel I have used. The quality of their products compared to the big box stores is apparent just at a glance. With this company you get high performance, high quality items at a reasonable price. If you shop at bike stores or boutiques you might be tempted to think that high quality cycling gear is out of your price range, but Aero Tech will change your mind. I am not a competitive cyclist, but I have been riding a bicycle for nearly 50 years. I have purchased many items form Aero Tech before making this purchase.Back when I bought these, these were the cheapest option for bicycle bibs with suspenders. I did expect them to develop some kind of issue eventually, but this has not happened so far. While they don't look as good as some other bibs I have seen, these work quite well.In colder weather I put on a pair of Pearl Izumi Amfib over these. The material in the Izumi is smoother to the touch, but if I never bought the Izumi I would not have noticed this.These bib shorts are a good value.Bear in mind I’m a new rider.Bibs definitely make ride more comfortable than shorts. These have an okay pad in my mind. I don’t have desire to spend a lot of cash and I don’t have any other bib purchases to compare to yet. But I’d say for the money these are more than acceptable.
